Default Savic Rody vs. Gabber Rex - in pictures!

I have had a Savic Rody since Felix came to live with me but it is a spare for other rescues, but I had the chance to buy a fabulous Gabber Rex yesterday off another forum member. I always liked the look of them but I really didn't think they were all that big compared to the Rody.

Was I right? WRONG!

See for yourself...

Savic Rody

Gabber Rex

Titch is very kindly modelling the Rex, I put her into it today and she seems to love it since there is so much more for her to do in there. Underneath the food bowl is a small red pipe play tube, and the house on the right is holding some sand so she now has a sand bath also

Just in case anybody is curious:

Savic Rody is 55cm x 39cm (2145 cm²)

Gabber Rex is 71cm x 45.5 cm (3230.5 cm²)

Giving 1085.5 cm² more room!

It looks brilliant, Leanne ...I'm so glad Titch likes it and she looks at home there already.

Hmmm.....you are making me think perhaps our other spare rex would be a good home for Bean.....

After seeing this post, I was inspired to try one out for when I get my next little one.
Although it will probably turn into a couple more if I like it
Titch certainly seems to like it!

It is down to you really since the rody and the cage you have are good cages for him anyway (and with the new cage he will have more space and a separate sleeping area cleverly designed) I only really moved her because I wanted to use up more of the toys I have - I keep buying them and have enough spare toys for another 4 or 5 hamsters or so (but sadly not the room lol)!

I'm sure you have the room for a few more

I love the Rex, I saw the Savic and thought it was good but just picked the biggest, at a reasonble price, and cant really fault it so far. I was told my Syrian may chew threw it, but she hasnt touched it anywhere apart from a bit of bar chewing!

Well we're keeping him in the Rody for a while until he's used to us - our happy world cage has tubes and I can see he'd just retreat into the tubes whenever we want to get him out. I am a Rex fan though - and one big positive of a robo in a rex would be...... no bar chewing :P
