Question Okay temporary living conditions?

Whilst I'm waiting to get a larger house for my new girl, I have put a towel in the spare bath (plug closed!) with her small cage placed inside, open, so she can live in a large environment for the meantime.
I wondered if this is safe for her? I check on her a lot and there are no other pets who could disturb her. I suppose the only worry is the lack of sawdust and burrowing in the bath, but her cage is full of nesting/burrowing material.
Any thoughts welcome!
Thanks

I'd be worried about escapes. There has been tales on HC of hamsters escaping from baths despite there being no obvious way of getting out.

Yes this is an issue. I can't exactly put wire over the whole bath. I'll keep a close eye on her as possible until the big house arrives. Thanks!

It looks nice, but I would also be worried about escapes. One of my hamsters almost got out before and I still don't know how. If you keep her in there be careful about anything being close the the edges of the bath.

Well, if you can ensure that your bathroom is hamster proof, i.e. that there are no tiny gaps she can climb in and get lost. You could leave the bathroom door shut and then if she does escape the bath would just be in the bathroom. In case this were to happen, I would leave a bowl of water and food on the floor, and perhaps a box (for sleeping in). That way should she escape in the night (while I assume you're sleeping) she won't be stuck without food and water and sleeping place until morning.

When's your cage coming?

That's a really good idea Gillzy, thanks. The cage is coming in about three-four days. Just want her to have as much space as possible and not to be stressed as she's new here! Thanks for the help guys

I'd be really careful and block any holes. Lie on the ground (head flat on the floor) and look around (and up under things). Sen found a gap in the toilet/sink cabinet that meant I could have lost into the netherworld behind the walls.

I'd be worried about that towel, in case she starts chewing it or trying to make a nest with it.
Lovey space though
How long until the new cage comes? I hope you have a shower or another bath

I'd personally just keep her in the cage, it'll be fine for a few days. My previous Syrian could escape from the bath no problem plus the material from the towel can be chewed and swallowed.

Yeh, I, personally, wouldn't be happy leaving a ham in the bath open and unsupervised, with a towel. The cage doesn't seem that small for a few days... Even if you leave the cage in the bath and spend your time in that room for a few hours in the evening, to give her some extra space but put the lid on when it's time for you to go to bed?
