Default Is my hamster wheel too small? (Pictures so you can judge)

Can you tell me what you think about her running in this wheel. Someone commented that she might be too big for it in my other thread about her bin cage. My hubby will not be happy if I have to buy another $20 wheel, but if she does indeed need it, I will.

She is a long haired Syrian. She's 2 1/2 months old. When are they considered full grown size?

You're gonna hate me, but I think perhaps the larger wheel would be better.

I have no idea when they stop growing though.

I cant see the photos but a syrian should have at least an 8" wheel.

A wheel without a spindal too is better for LH hammies as their furr will not get court up in it.

It is an 8" Wodent Wheel, but Snickerdoodle is a long hamster.

Have you tried to measure her yet?

Judging by the second photo, I'd go for an 11" wheel, she is arching her back and neck a wee bit; see how she has to lift her head? Sorry, I know it's probably not what you wanted to hear, but the Wodent wheels do last well, so it's not likely to be a purchase you'll need to repeat.

i doubt she is only 8.5 weeks old? if thats true shes going to be HUGE

they are normally sold in the pet stores at 8 weeks old
they normally stop growing around 4 - 5 months old

if shes still growing then you will need the next size up im afraid, but at the moment that wheel isonly JUST ok

my gosh if shes only 2months and a bit then she's one big hammy
usually, 8inch wheels are absolutely fine for most syrians but in her case, it looks like she could really benefit from an 11/12'' wheel (the senior wodent wheel for example).

I know it's not what you want to hear but I agree with the others... But I have the SWW and it's great, I've never seen Wiggles run so fast in his life! Your ham is quite a long one and I think he would be happier with a bigger wheel In the long term it'll be great for her and it's good to have peace of mind knowing that her exercise equipment won't hurt her eventually..

She was born May 12th. My hamster gave birth to her. You can see my thread about it on the breeding forum.

ETA: I knew Sheila was a good mum to those babies. LOL I was afraid they would be stunted in their growth.
