Im from the Uk so it would be easy for me to get those cages then. I would consider making a bin cage so I dont waste the £40-£50 I spent setting this one up for little Tazmo. Is it hard to attach a Habitrail Ovo to a Bin cage?

Provided you are handy with tools it shouldnt be difficult at all, you just need to cut a hole big enough for the tube to fit in comfortably then use the 'locks' or 'connector' from the ovo to stop the tube sliding back out of the hole.

Incidentally, did you buy the setup from Pets at Home? They have been known to give refunds on cages, even if they've been used.

hey specjalbradley there's a good storage box from Wilkinson's that would be good for your dwarf ham here Crystal Storage Box with Lid Clear 62ltr | Storage Boxes with Lids | | Plastic Storage from Wilkinson Plus

if you didnt want to connect the ovo to the actual bin you could always use bits and bobs from the ovo to accessorize inside your bin cage, you could use the tubes and other things as toys for your ham to play with.

That`s the problem with these over-priced modular habitats. They are very expensive yet don`t reflect what a hamster needs. They are modeled on a hamsters underground burrow chambers and not the actual space that the hamster needs to run around. Placing a few of the smaller pods inside a larger cage would still alow the hamster to use them, but not be so restrictive because the hamster can then choose to come and go as it chooses.

If your cage is from Pets At Home, they would refund you for it, so do consider it. Just say that you bought the cage because you were advised to, but now know that it is unsuitable. This happened to my nephew. He purchased a Gerbilarium from Pets At Home and had to return it due to a broken poke in the upper barred section and they sold him a Rotastak Space Command for a SYRIAN?

They don`t stock decent cages in their stores now sadly, so a refund would be your best option.

I got my cage from a small place where i got the hamster from. The reason I brought Tazmo there was because she was hand raised so I thought the cages would be good from there

I'd highly reccomend this bin cage, its a really good size and the same length as the hamster heaven. Its width is only 10cm off as well. I have one myself and I love it, you can fit loads of toys in it.

dont beat yourself up about it specjalbradley this sort of thing happens alot and its not your fault you were misinformed.its such a shame for you that you shelled out £40-£50 on this cage when you can get a perfect cage for less than that.

btw i really want this bin too but if i get anymore hamster related things my mam will go off on a "your getting too many things for your hamster!" rant AGAIN lol!

Hehe, aww I'm lucky the only person to really 'rant' at me for too much hammie stuff is my OH... and he spoils them more than me!

And SpecjalBradley don't worry yourself at all, look on the bright side of it you now have the possibility of making your hammie a cage with both a burrow and open ground! My hammies would be dead jelous if they knew.
