I don't think you should misguide new hamster owners DoomSlave, he should consider getting a new cage as soon as possible.

As already said, to get a decent sized set up it works out more expensive than just one bigger cage.
You could however, if you want to keep the OVO, connect it to a bin cage
Very true you can do that

I'm not misguiding him, just not jumping down his throat to get a new cage right away as he may not have the money. Did I say he should wait a year? No. Did I say that he had to get one tomorrow? No. All I meant is he doesn't have to stress himself out over it but still consider getting a new cage. I think it's better to make someone feel welcome and happy in the forum rather than boss them around. If you don't agree with my opinion feel free to offer your own rather than single me out for mine. I don't agree with you and I think that in other threads you are too harsh and a bit condescending. I don't like being singled out and I'm sure you don't either so let's just agree to stay out of each other's way okay?

I'm sorry but I think you are acting a bit childish. I have not been arguing with you or made any kind of effort to start a fight, so why should we "stay out of each other way"? Correct me if you are you not singeling me out by saying that? Obviously you have very strong feelings about this. I think you should know that it can really hurt someones feeling by calling them harsh and condescending. I am merely concerned about animal welfare, and animal welfare should never be slowed down in any way!

"He should consider getting a new cage as soon as possible" I don't see how that can be jumping down somebodies throat?

Yes I am singling you out to show you how it isn't very great to be singled out. I do think we should stay out of each other's way as I have seen other posts by you that I just thought were...unnecessary and I really didn't want to say anything but I have the right to defend my opinion when it is openly disputed in such a childish fashion. Like I said you are welcome to give your opinion without bringing mine into it.

No matter how many words you bold in your quote it doesn't change the "I don't think you should misguide new hamster owners..." part. As for your concern for animal welfare, that's fine, I couldn't care less what you have to say on the matter as long as you leave me and my opinion out of it. Unless I or someone else openly starts berating someone with insults and rubbish and snide remarks I'd suggest you offer your opinion in a manner that doesn't belittle anyone else's.

Alright, I'm sorry that I clouded your opinion with mine. I didn't realise you would take it that way, because I certainly didn't mean it to sound like that. I do however think it's strange of you to singel me out as a person when I am just a part of the community, we share our opinions mostly here.

I'm sorry, but why should anyone have to leave your opinion alone, doomslave? You are on a public forum and DwarfNome was only sharing her opinion of what you said. No need to go jumping on people for quoting your post and not agreeing with you. If you don't like having others try and have a civil discussion with you and discussing each others opinions and thoughts then perhaps forums aren't just the right fit for you.

At any rate upgrading as soon as possible is what is in the best interest for the animal. I'm that the OP is able to understand that upgrading does seem to be the agreed upon suggestion and will make the decision to do so or not. I don't know what was being read, but nothing here was rude, forceful or otherwise in a tone that would suggest that people are 'shoving' their opinions down the OP's 'throat'.

My opinion is that while your ham is happy now, think how much happier and healthier the ham will be in a larger set up where your ham can explore, move around and do hamstery things.
