(Help) Looking for a new cage...
I have finally decided to get rid of my extended Rotastak adventure zone cage and get something new!
I currently have 2 Syrian hamsters in 2 seperate Rotastak cages but the Rotastak is becoming a pain to clean out and its 5 years old and definately showing its age.
So I am looking for 2 new cages but need some ideas! Preferably a red or orange cage and I don't really mind wire or plastic cages (Although I think if I had to choose it would be plastic)
I also like levels or little 'Huts' for my hamsters to scurry around and a cage that is easy to clean and re-assemble!
Finally SORRY for all of my 'Needs'
+ Thank you to everyone that helps!

Does the Ruffy come in a red or orange? I think it's a yellowy orange...Hm. I'm glad you've decided to upgrade!!!
The Hamster Heaven has yellow shelves and a penthouse.

I hate rotacrap, so I'm glad you're upgrading. You hamsters will thank you!
For a syrian you really need a minimum cage size of 80x50 with an 8 or 11" wheel.
The Criceti 15 has a nice red corner shelf.

Rotastaks are horrible imo... Glad you are upgrading!
If a cage isn't orange or red could you paint the base that colour or stick stickers on it?

Re: (Help) Looking for a new cage...
new cages are always fun. Fred has the alexander cage, its expensive but comes with levels and houses all made of wood, you can plastikote them red and itl make them waterproof. its got a blue base. Fred is a bar biter, but only for attention, after I put it back or when I wake up in the mornings.
The bars are 1cm apaprt, so also suitable for adult campbells too.
Mishka Is in a bin cage, but im making her something special september
ZZ2 ild say is a great option, its my 2nd choice for fred. but he likes his levels so i'll keep him in the alexander

Re: (Help) Looking for a new cage...
Thanks for all of your ideas everyone!
I was thinking about getting a Habitrail Ovo Loft (The biggest of the Habitrail range)
BUT! Don't fear Habitrail/Rotastak haters, I am also thinking about building two box cages and connecting them to the two Habitrail Ovo Loft cages.

Re: (Help) Looking for a new cage...
I'd say if they were in a loft, they would deffo need the extension box , one of at least the same size. To be honest, I think that you pay a LOT for not a lot of return for Habitrail. All those tunnels and stuff.. if a hamster wants them, a nice big deep cage with space for a few inches of substrate does the job, then (in the zoo world it's known as enrichment) they can build all those structures themselves, which keeps them busy and occupied too .
I love the look of those Alexander cages, and the thought of being able to plastikote it all in funky colours... WOO! (still need to do Fur-nando's wheel ).

Re: (Help) Looking for a new cage...
Yeah If I was to get box cages I would sit the ovo loft ontop and have ventilation grills on the side of the box and have the box the same size as the ovo loft
I googled Alexander cages earlier but couldn't find them at all :S
Could you possibly link me up to one?
Thank You!
