Help!! Squeaky Wheel
Hi all Can anyone please help me for tips or ideas how to stop my hamster wheel squeaking so much it is soooooo loud and squeaky.
Does anybody have the silent wheels are they really silent wheels or would i be wasting my time buying a silent wheel?

They are not completely silent but they are quieter than other wheels. What wheel do you have now?

Re: Help!! Squeaky Wheel
I can't hear my silent spinner at all when my hamster is on it, and the wodent wheel is also pretty silent. The Karlie wonderland wheel is brilliant too, all I hear is the tapping of Marley's feet.

Re: Help!! Squeaky Wheel
Try a little vegetable oil on the central spoke, and see if that helps.

Silent Spinners are good, at least the 2 I have had for 2 years are. You may have to weigh the stand down with stones as it can shake and make an annoying vibrating noise x

I've found that putting one of those sticky pads you put under furniture on the back part so it can't knock on the cage works too. (won't work for a chewer though..)

Re: Help!! Squeaky Wheel
Regular silent spinner wheels are quiet. You just need to remember to unscrew the yellow ball-baring in the centre from the yellow clip on the back when washing the wheel because immersing this in water will rust up the srew that runs through the clip at the back.
A little dab of vaseline is what I use. But only on my senior wodent wheel that my syrian uses. My silent spinners rarely need oiling, if at all.

Re: Help!! Squeaky Wheel
You could put a little bit of veg oil onto your current wheel.
What kind of hams do you have (for wheel advice purposes)?

Re: Help!! Squeaky Wheel
Do you know what this might sound strange,But it works.Don't waist your time with oil,Use lip bam/Lipice it works wonders and you only need to aply it once and the wheels sorted till next time you wash it.

Re: Help!! Squeaky Wheel
I have a big plastic wheel which attaches to the cage it came with the cage I bought him a new bigger cage as the last cage was a bit small for him and the last wheel he has was too small too he is so much happier in this cage. He loves his new wheel spends a lot of time on it sometimes he doenst want to come out of the cage he takes a sniff at my hand and then turns around and go back into the cage straight onto the wheel. I can't believe how fast they run. ha ha
