Default Zoozone 2 help, purdy please!

Tldr; Do I pay £55 in a shop, or £50 online for delivery? Can you send me some mesh for the top? ;P

Right I'm wanting to buy a ZZ2, I went into the local shop today, and they have them - but are selling them for £55 (I thought it was £45) and then I'd have to buy mesh and figure out how to get it home. So I think I may be best ordering from online, as then it will be delivered. Although, I'm not planning to be in much over the next week... but hopefully my brother would be nice and take me to the depot to pick it up Although, it would be good that I could inspect it in the shop for cracks etc :/

I can get it from ebay for £49 inc delivery... what do we think? Is it worth paying £6 less to get it delivered to me, although it may get damaged in transport? :/

The other thing is that I would then need 30"x13" of 1cm mesh to do the top of it... which would be difficult since the only shop I could think of in town didn't sell any - so I'd need to go to B&Q or a garden center - which I don't have a car to do, nor the time to do it :/

Does anyone know anywhere online that would deliver me such a small amount (most were massive rolls of it)? Or if any of you would be willing to send me some, I'd pay you how ever much it cost for it, postage and your effort?! Haha.

So, what do we think?

Also, I wanted to add when I said to the pet shop lady that I was needing to mesh it as the gap is too big she said "what's it for a rat?" and I said "No a hamster" "It's a bit big for a hamster..." "Well she needs it, she's very hyper!" and another customer chimed in "You should see the size of my hamster!" and I said "Yeh, they get pretty big don't they?!" And her son said "He's huuuge!" haha. Just another example of a shop keeper who thinks hamsters should be kept in small cages. Sad times.

I'd go for delivery. I don't know anywhere that sells mesh though. Ebay might. You can get anything on ebay. XD

You could get mesh from wickes: Wickes mesh, but I've heard from other users that the delivery charge is quite the lot...

I'd get it from the petshop too, because then you know it wont be broken. And it helps your shop

I'd buy it from the pet shop too as it ensures you won't have to send it back. You could always ask if they would do you a price match as you can get it for £50 online. They may just do it! Wilkinsons sell small rolls of mesh in the gardening section at this time of year.

Thanks folks. Yeh, I'm keen to get it from the shop because I do want to encourage them to sell bigger cages (and perhaps I could encourage them to tell customers that this is a good sized cage for a hamster - that would only make them more money!!). I'll try haggling, or maybe ask for some free millet with it Although I'm terrible at it lmao (I'm too nice lol). But really, a fiver isn't much (except I'll need to get a taxi home... which is another fiver).

The main problem is the mesh.

It has been suggested to me that art stores might have mesh?

From Wickes, for one sheet, it costs £7.50 (inc delivery). From Wilkinsons (my nearest store is too far) it's £9.43 (inc delivery) - although I'm not sure the mesh size in this one. And can't get it much cheaper on ebay (but that was a good idea, can't believe I didn't think of it!).

I'm gonna leave uni early today and see if I can find mesh in town, and I'll go buy the ZZ. My parents are coming down this weekend and although it's busy might be able to get mesh from Dobbies or B&Q (although I don't know if they'll cut me some to size?).

Thanks guys!

ETA: Do you think I could put her in it without mesh (until I get some) if I don't put any high toys in (although I would need to put her wheel in)? I don't think she'd be able to reach the roof... :/ I could put a blanket over it at night or maybe the lid from her bin cage? :/

I agree with getting it from the shop, I know many people have trouble with cages being delivered as they easily crack (although the zoozone 2 is one sturdy cage, mines at least 5 years old or more)
I got my mesh from a local pet shop, but they've stopped selling it now Otherwise you could maybe try getting your hands on an old playpen and use the panels.

I'd also go with the shop; if you got one online and had to send it back, they'd probably charge you for delivery which I'd bet would be nearer £10 than £5, and some of the cheapest online sellers have rather dodgy return policies (*cough*whinmoorgarden*cough*). I'd mesh it before you put a hamster in though unless you've meshed one before - I had to keep checking against the top half where the mesh will rest to make sure it'd close properly, which would have been difficult to do if I was trying not to wake a hammy every time I checked.

I got my mesh at a local chain of pet/garden shops, so a garden centre would be worth a look if you've got any of those near you?
