Default Compost Heap/Bin?

Is it possible/safe to put used bedding etc on the compost heap/in the compost bin? I'm a big recycler but I haven't been doing as I read (somewhere) that you shouldn't and I've noticed that my non-recycling bin is fuller than I'd like it to be since getting the 3 hammies, even though, as they have big cages and use a litter tray, I find I can re-use a fair bit of it.

I'm a vegetable gardener and currently have 2 compost bins and a compost heap on the go - can the used bedding (currently a mix of Carefresh and Megazorb though I'm planning on trying the Bob Martins paper cat litter as soon as I can get to Asda) go into the compost? What about the potty litter?

Or is it not a good idea?

Holly it all depends what you will use the compost for
DO NOT use it on anything you will eat
hamsters do have nasties in their poo like all creatures (even us!)

OK - I think I'll keep one compost bin for the non-edible parts of the garden and the other (hamster poo free!) for the veggies - thanks!

Because there is a lot of seeds in there you might find they start to grow all over the place! Sunflowers and wheat will invade your garden

The slugs will be delighted then - they had most of our sunflowers last year
