Small Pet Cage Phoenix @ zooplus?
Hi there, i'm considering buying the Phoenix wooden cage at zooplus but I can't find anyones personal reviews or pictures other than that site, has anyone had any experience with this cage? It's quite pricey so i'd like honest opinions on it & such.
Thanks ^^
Great deals on small pet cages and accessories at zooplus: Small Pet Cage Phoenix is the link.

Re: Small Pet Cage Phoenix @ zooplus?
I have little personal experience of it, but I know someone (name escapes me right now) on either here or Madabout Hams bought one (can't remember if it was this one or one of the other models) and was disappointed with the quality considering the price of it, they said it was thin, flimsy feeling wood.
I have actually seen one in use, as someone's "play cage" that they let their hams take turns in, it seemed to be reasonably sturdy, but they had had it for years (and it was 2 years ago I saw it!) so the build quality may have gone downhill.

I haven't had one myself but I can imagine you'd have to platikote the cage for pee protection but then the hammy may still chew the wood? Also I can't see much room for extra toys?

It's quite deceptive - the floor space is about that of a hamster heaven, so once you've popped the wheel in the back left corner, there's loads of room to put tunnels in etc.
One other downside is that because the tray pulls out, you can't put a very deep layer of substrate in.

Ah, I see. Never seen one IRL but just noticed the floor space size.

That has the same kinda measurements as the hamster heaven and I would personally go for that instead of this.
I have heard bad things about the 'phoenix' cage, that it's poorly made and such. And I would just be worried about it being chewed and peed on.

Re: Small Pet Cage Phoenix @ zooplus?
Hmmm. I already have the hamster heaven, I like it - I just thought this cage would be nicer to look at I suppose. Peeing wouldn't be an issue, i'd plastikote the cage but if it is not well made then that really is quite a major con. I haven't really thought about the chewing, my little syrian man isn't much of a chewer. Thanks for the replies
