Play Sand
I'm thinking about getting some to use in a section of my hammies' cages. However, I've heard it needs to be dried out, how would I do this? Some people have mentioned putting it in the oven, would this work? if so for how long and what heat?

Re: Play Sand
I'm thinking the same as I want a large sand area in Crystas cage... I'm guessing just a very low heat but not sure how long, I'd just check it every 10 mins or so
thinking maybe leaving the bag open in a warm room would prob dry it out also, obviously will take longer though :P

Re: Play Sand
What I do is open like a hole in the bag...(Not too big) Then I scoop some into a jug until the jug is full, then leave it out too dry, and then i transfer it too a large container in my room. Then I do the same thing over and over again with the jug etc...And i have 3 hamsters, and its usually enough for all of them..But this is just my 'special' way xx

Re: Play Sand
I put it in an oven dish, gas mark 7/8 and it still took like 30 minutes to dry.
It took forever.. >.<

Yes, it's for a sand bath You can use either Children's Play Sand or Chinchilla Sand but it MUST be the sand and NOT the dust as the dust can cause respiratory problems.

Re: Play Sand
Yeah, it ends up a little damp and stuck together otherwise and is hard to dig in.
Hmm, I'll have to get a bag and see how it goes!
