Re: So Annoyed!!!
You should contact the breeder? ask if you can postpone picking luna up until you have sorted the cage out, a breeder should understand that you want to have everything set up for them, and a cage change early in taming will hinder it anyway, =/
It's completely stupid that it arrived broken, and I know you probably don't want to postpone getting your new baby, but that seems like the best option =[

Re: So Annoyed!!!
If it's just a chipped corner, it doesn't look like it would be unusable. Though i'm not sure if they'd expect you to return a broken base in order to recieve a replacement. Maybe ask if that is the case, and if you don't need to return it just use it until the new one arrives?

Re: So Annoyed!!!
Right, sorted lol.
ZooPlus are going to refund me £35 and let me keep the one I recieved. Luckily one of the shelves covers the broken bit except for a 2mm gap and unless she squeezes past her food bowl and manages to get her teeth around the gap she wont be able to naw through it. So for now, she will be in the one I have but I've ordered a replacement base from Pets at Home for £25, they are going to rush the order through so it should be in store quite soon.
Hopefully she wont be in a broken cage for very long at all. I'll most likely only put a thin layer of substrate in that corner so she cant reach the gap anyway.
*Phew*

Re: So Annoyed!!!
you can always cover the gap with few layers of cardboard from outside and tape it to the base - each layer separate taping - it worked on mine with a similar problem!!! if she gets her teeth through the plastic, she will still have to get through few cardboard layers which is not easy for them if they don't have anything to catch the tooth on to! I used a toilet roll I stamped on and duck tape. It held in my two winter whites untill another base of the rotastack arived. (BTW people, never buy a rotastack, its the worst cage I've ever owned!)

I was thinking of doing something of those lines. Will sort it out tomorrow, I'm shattered. Been on the phone all day about the cage, then put the cage together which was quite difficult then I had to go do the food shopping.
Can relax and stare at my beautiful Hamster Heaven now Just wish my hammy was in there!
