Cage Problems...
As i am going to be getting a new hamster maybe in January i have started looking at cages. I really wanted to get the biggest possible cage for my hamster but i am on a budget so thats not possible but then i found this Rat Cage | Rat Cage | | Rabbit Hutches, Chicken Coops & Multi-Purpose Animal Housing from Wilkinson Plus it looks a good size and i could replace the tube with a ladder if it is needed Has anyone had this cage? Do you think a wodent wheel would fit on the shelf? I also would like to keep my hamster in my bedroom but im not sure if it would be ok because i have a table but the cage would be a little bit too big and would hang off the edge :S I could keep the cage on the floor but i read somewhere you are not meant to do that but i dont know why? Sorry for the long post but i just want to do the best for my new hammy

Re: Cage Problems...
sounds good to me its like 80cm so nice length, but i dont think a WW would fit on the shelf, really, because it looks roughly the same size as a fferplast mary
good price too
dont know about the cages on floor bit but i think it'd be more difficult for taking the hamster out and cleaning the cage :P i have all mine on shelves and tables - i ihad to do loads of rearranging though ;D

Re: Cage Problems...
I dont think that a ww would fit on the shelf, and you may find that it would rattle around and make a racket anyway. £50 is quite a lot and there are other good cages about for around this sort of price ie: Imac fantasy and extenstion, zoozone 1 or even 2, cambridge, criceti 15 . .
This cahe does look a nice size though and the bar spacing looks suitable too.
As for keeoing it on the floor you can, as long as it is out of the way of door and windows and drafts, and is not going to be attacked by any pets.

Re: Cage Problems...
Thanks but im not allowed the ZZ1 or 2 because i have to mesh it (my mum wont let me or else i would get it) And i kind of like this cage Anyway, I think i will just put the ww on the bottom floor bit or hang it off the top if i can figure out how to I have no other pets so the cage cant get attacked and i can put it at the other side of the room from the door but by drafts do you mean like if i have the window open for a while but the room is at a nice temperature?

Re: Cage Problems...
yeah drafts is if theres gusts of wind from a open window or something i just have a tiny one open or my dad complains about it being a small room with 4 hamsters in it which stinks the place out (he is rather anti pet though)
i didnt know you could hang wws! will look into it actually
you could consider the duna multy? similar price but its from ecf meaning ordering from them lol which might not be great...

Re: Cage Problems...
looks like a good cage like other people have said though, a WW prob won't fit on the shelf... just some quick measurements, a WW is 22cm isn't it? and the cage is 40cm high and the shelf looks a little over halfway up the cage which would make it smaller than the wheel, but I'm sure it'll fit on the base with plenty more room for hammie to run around

Re: Cage Problems...
I have recently bought my Syrian a ferplast criceti 15 and there is lots of room in it for tubes, toys and a WW. He has only been in it a couple of days but seems to love the extra space.

Re: Cage Problems...
probably, but then you'd have to tape the wheel down or something :L

Re: Cage Problems...
I think if you can move the shelf i will move it down and hang the wheel from the top? I think that might work
