Re: Do not buy the trixi hammock or the climbing frame!
Poor, poor Milly - she really really needs to be taken to the vet hun, this is not something she will just pass peacefully on with - it will be very painful for her and as you say she is in agony. Please try ringning round vets in your area - there must be more than one, we have around 7 in our town. Our consultant fees are usually around £5. Delaying it any longer will just cause little Milly more stress. Hope you get something sorted soon xx

Oww Couchy, I am so sorry to hear about your trouble!
I hope you can find a vets today to take Milly to, this must be a horrible experience for you. Please let us know if anything happens.
I feel for Milly, it really looks bad from the pictures (and imagining Souffle's observation with it) .
Wish for the best!

Re: Do not buy the trixi hammock or the climbing frame!
Aww I am so sorry, poor little Milly must be in such pain Dont blame yourself though, now you just need to do whats best for her. I hope that you can get her to a vet asap. Phoebe got stuck in one of these once Hanging Play Cave-Hyperdrug her leg got trapped in the metal clasp. I heard her thrashing about and thought somthing was up and I tried to free her leg but she just bit me as it was hurting so much. So I just lowered the cave to the floor so that she wasnt in mid air and she managed to free herself and luckily I caught her soon enough so no damage was done - not even a cut. Needless to say the toy went in the bin!
But getting back to poor Milly, I do hope that the vets can fit her in and do somthing for her, if you catch it soon enought the toxins may not have spread and she will not need to be put down, just an amputation, she will still be able to live a happy and full life on three legs - look at FluffyM'S treo.

Re: Do not buy the trixi hammock or the climbing frame!
I'll be honest and say the PDSA probaly wouldn't amputate.. One of my piggies had overgrown teeth and they just said I would need to let him die because basically it wouldn't be worth their while or their funds operating on him because it was a guinea pig.. I left the place in tears thinking it was the end for him. Ended up taking him to the private vet. Not the one we go to anymore but they saved his life.
My new vet specialises in all rodents etc and they are so cheap. You might be suprised how little one of your local vets charge. I'd never go back to the PDSA with anything other than a cat and dog because it seems that is all they want to treat
Where do you live? My vet is in Glasgow so probaly too far but they are used to amputating guinea pigs, rabbits, hedgehogs, hamsters etc with huge success rates.

The PDSA really said that? well I would have complained very publicly if that is the case - they are an animal charity, not a cat or dog charity, so should help with all kinds.

Oh my, what a unforunate thing to have happened, I hope she is okay. So it was the cotton that got tied up around her leg?! I never thought of that. I had recently just put some fluffy cotton in that was non-allergenic and used to stuff stuffed animals, but I guess that is a bad idea and I should take it out?!!!! I was thinking when I put it in what could this fluff do bad to my hamster? But I never thought of this!

Yep they said it wasn't worth it. Mum didn't want me to make a fuss because her dog attends there.. It was just a certain vet because he was really stuck up with our dog too. He had hurt his neck and was screaming in pain. He said it was just attention.. Turns out it was a slipped disc and needed surgery Never saw him again after that but it really put me off going there again.

You should never use fluffy or fleecy bedding or anything with threads in it cheeky. Not only can it tangle round limbs but also it can cause terrible bowel blockages and even choking if they try and pouch it.
Never buy it no matter how safe they say it is
How are things today couchy? xx
