In Selly Oak there is one small independent pet store and then the rest is take aways! We went to investigate the store and found an ace range of food (special ones for dwarfs etc) but naff rota cages etc.
Few days ago I saw a hammy cage in a second hand furniture/appliences store here but priced at £7.50 (but 2 old £10 stickers left on)
Me and the bf went in today to investigate. It was filthy, quite small and £7.50.
It would make an ok travel cage though and with Kingswinford coming up decided we would barter. It went like this-
Amethyst-"will you take £4 for the hamster cage?"
Man- "how much is it?"
Amethyst- "I didn't know?".
He went over and said..."ahh its £10!"
Amethyst- "Yeh that's way too much and it has two cracks on the top"
Man "well its £10, is that too much?!"
Amethyst-"Yes for a cage this small and there's a £7.50 price there"
Man-"Oh just ignore that! £5..ok I do it £5"
Amethyst- "well no thats too much. £4."
Man- "ok" and walks off telling us to help ourself lol
Just got home and started cleaning it- its a FOP! There are 2 small cracks i have taped up but the base is prac not scratched, few bits off the wire but apart from that and one broken clip at side its great! So quite chuffed. Can't find out which is it though.
Measures approx-
40cm length, 30cm width, 23cm Height
Has this weird stain that won't scratch off and looks "bleached" into the base..
Small cracks ive taped
Came with these-
smaller bowl has savic, larger FOP and wheel "pets brand". Wheel comes off stand. It looks small but its sturdy. Diameter of 4.5"- if any one wants it they are welcome and just pay postage
This is the house im going to bin- some poor hammy has chewed his way out!
But yes, i think it was quite a bargain. If anyone knows which cage it is let me know- just out of curiosity!
