Question imac fantasy questions ?

should it have clips at the bottom? the cage i have swapped hamsters over with has clips for roof and the extension but just sits in at the bottom? dont know if that is the way its meant to be or not.. have saw links you can purchase clips.

looking at pictures some people dont megazorb the extension area.. is it essential to do this?

any weak flaws on the cage to be aware off? other than the caps at the top?

im a escapee paranoid!

thanks.

Hi Dora,
I have the imac fantasy cage, without and extension. When I bought the cage it came with clips for the top (attic) and then on the bars to clip down the bottom... will take pic now.. *takes pic* .. *scratches head trying to figure how to attach pic* OK I don't know how to attach the pic, sorry.
On the issue of escaping I have had three syrians in that cage (not at the same time obviously) and none of them have managed to escape or twist the caps. As long as they are turned to the secure position they should be fine, unless your hamster is super smart and can turn things! The cage as a whole is pretty secure, if your hamster likes biting bars like my previous hamster did Lily, they are at a perfect height and you are sure to be awoken by the noise as it can be really loud! The tube is a decent size so my hamsters haven't gotten stuck in it. The screw top in the middle of the cage on the level you can unscrew and buy a wooden suspension bridge, my hammy loves to walk up the bridge to the next level. Any other queries you have about the imac cage I will be happy to help!

thanks for replying.

it must be missing clips by sound of it.. as i have clip to attic to extension..extension to lower level..and then no clip to base..its still secure but obv mobile wise it would collapse..so will go hunting for clips have saw a link somewhere.

i have bridges so sounds like a plan so she can still use them.

and yes dora is a bar chewer but tbh it doesnt rattle as loud as the gabber but give it time.. thankfully i dont sleep in the same room and once sleeping im oblivious to noises!

thanks again

Sound's like it must be missing the clips, did you buy it second hand or have just lost the clips? I saw some clips on ebay when I was looking at buying an extension for the cage (instead found someone selling the whole cage for a cheaper cost than the extension which is perfect because now when I go on holiday and have to take my hammys to my cousins house they can both go in imac cages rather than having to take the imac and the big rotastak set up. Aww your lucky, I have to have my hammys in my room so I was constantly listening to the sound of gnawed on bars. I must say with the amount of biting the bars took it was a while before some of the paint came off!

i have adopted someones hamster today who is a older female and the current owner said she was spending most time on one level. she is frail by looks of her due to her being older so thought id give her doras cage which is one floor the gabber rex (Similar to multy) as dora is younger and would struggle less with a cage with levels.i will definately get the clips though as im a paranoid when it comes to escaping!so them clips will reassure me.

Congratulation's on your new addition Good idea using just the single level, I have a hamster that's like that he's very new though and he's been ill so he hasn't been going down to the lower level because he hasn't had the energy (very worrying when water was on lower level) he seems to be well now and I heard him in his wheel last night. I have only held him once though and he hissed (scared the life out of me)! She shouldn't be able to escape as the whole cage weight rests down onto the bottom and as for carrying I usually pick the cage up on the ends holding both the wire and plastic so if the clips weren't there I think it would be ok. It might be best though to put your mind at rest to buy the clips. Does she chew the other clips? Because the clip does clip from the wire to plastic so she would have the opportunity as they are at hammy height.. If you want to bulk up your female, what I did when my hammy was ill was put his food closer to where he slept so he didn't have to move as far, I gave him normal hammy food (can't think what to cool it) but I also gave him more treats as he was off food and he was more tempted to eat when the treats were there as they smelt more interesting, I would give him a couple of sticks of carrot (about 1 1/2 inches long and not too thick) I also gave him a couple of pieces of grated cheese (only a couple because I think it's not too good for them), he also had 3 pieces of banana flavoured popcorn (special hammy popcorn also comes in strawberry and apple.. I believe?) I also had a small ball of weave (made by woodlands.. bought at pets at home) I shoved choc drops into the ball and he had to work to get them out (choc drops made by rotastak). I have done the weave ball for all my hamsters and all of them have loved it. He also had a carrot and fennel stick in his cage (again made by woodlands) he started having nibbles at the treats and now he has taken to eating his food again. Hope I have helped, any more questions feel free to ask .. BTW sorry it's so long
