Hamster Shows in New England?
Hi everyone! I live in the United States, more specifically New England, and I was wondering if there were any nearby hamster shows that anyone knows of? I'd love to enter my hammies in one, but I can't seem to find any in my area.
Thank you!

I wanted to see one too and am also in New England, Peyton. Alas, hamster shows aren't really a thing in the US and while there is the occasional show now and then, it's generally in CA. None in New England, I'm afraid

Re: Hamster Shows in New England?
Hmm. Maybe we could gather some people and plan something out next year. It doesn't have to be the most professional thing in the world, but I know I'd really enjoy doing a hamster show type thing with some of you guys! Personally, I want to show off my little hammies and see all the other ones in my area, and meet some new people!

Re: Hamster Shows in New England?
It takes more then just getting together to have even a fun show. You have to have someone who can ID illnesses and be willing to tell any exhibitor who has ill hamsters they may not enter. You need to be very sure nobody's Hamsters can get hurt while showing.
As for a judging show you need a person who knows all type hamsters and the faults and good quality in each type hamster. You have to establish what type cages each exhibit will be housed in to assure no hamster has and advantage or disadvantage.
You'll have to have prizes or certificates for each winner and that means you'll need a cash flow to pay for all those delightful ribbons/trophies/certificates. Then the hardest one needed to hold any kind of Hamster show. You'll need a facility which has no problems with allowing rodents in their building. That is not and easy task either.
There is a Mouse/rat/Gerbil/rabbit/Cavy club that has been talking about including Hamsters. They hold shows and meet and greets all around the great lakes. I will be meeting up with a gal who raises Syrians, as well as show mice this coming Saturday when 4 new members will be joining ST's Hamstery, and the gal will be giving me a newsletter from the club which has the info about including Hamsters in their shows.
