Hi,
That's almost a relief as it makes the decision for me. I won't be entering Snoogy. However as I've said previously, if the conditions suit him, I'll bring him for the ladies to meet.

I'll have to take a list of names so I can put faces to all these names.

Thanks for info. As I said previously, Snoogy may not be at his best then so it wouldn't have been fair to him - or the poor soul trying to pick him up!

Aww but your hog is just so...well...cute, squeeable, and gawjus all rolled in to one. I might take a look at the site you mentioned as I am interested...if you could tell me the link.

Thank you Vectis for clarifying pet class.

If Snoogy is not up for travelling please dont bring him just for us because that is not fair. Bring lots of pics instead

I am still going to date but my OH is not keen on me traveling that distance without him...Im working on that

Oh thanks Vectis, I clearly didn't read that bit, whoops!

Haha I can imagine your owl would be delighted to come along Elaine!! It would be lovely to meet Snoogy if he's okay to travel though

I hope you can convince him Flames!

No harm done!

I've posted photos of my other pets in the Other Pets section:
The Fur'n'Feather Gang...

I hope you like them.

Hiya Elaine, I don't think I am repeating what anyone had said by saying this but all the sales have to be booked into the show secretary. If you would like to reserve one (as they can tend to sell pretty quickly sometimes) I would email the show secretary a few days before the show to see what they have. That way you can defiantly reserve rather than risking some being gone before you show up. Unless you plan to get there early like the rest of us hamster mad people.

Anyway if you go to http://www.hamsters-uk.org/index.php...d=90&Itemid=79 And download the show schedule for fillongly you should find the email address.

Like I said wait until a few days before the show as I haven't emailed in who I am taking for sales yet. I think some breeders tend to wait until the final week.
X

Does that mean that a lot of the for sale hamsters are already sold by the afternoon? is that because there isn't often a lot of hamsters for sale? or is that because LOADS get bought really early on?

If someone was specifically looking to buy would you suggest arriving really early?

Thanks Jellybaby, I'll defo do that.

Am I allowed to say what I'm looking for or is it a case of pot luck colour-wise? Annice has a wish list for her dream hammy, but I'll start (and finish) with half tame lol! On a serious note, one of the main reasons I'm doing this is to give her a fairer chance of having a good experience with her first 'all mine' pet. She's an amazingly confident lass (she's grown up in our mad, mini zoo!) but even with all of us on hand to give support (and oversee things) it's an important right of passage - her first personal pet...

I bought the newbie a few essentials for it's currently bare'n'boring cage today - wooden chew-toys, a wheel (8.5" for a starter, I'll get a bigger one as her furball grows) a climbing frame cum gym-thing that hangs from the roof bars and a couple of hanging baskets Rosewood Boredom Breaker Small Animal Activity Toy Floral Hanging Basket: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies which I'm sure will be gnawed to bit's in no time, but will make the cage look very cute until then...

I've plenty of tubes, balls, bottles, dishes and all the essentials in, so all we need to buy is a nice little house and we'll be all set! ... Annice loves some pottery houses we've seen, but they're very expensive so I think Santa will be bring her (or her hamster) one.. It'll be a nice, standard plastic hammy house for now lol!

It varies from show to show. At some shows there aren't many taken in the first place, at other shows they just go quickly. Sometimes you do get hams there all day and even going home unsold but if you want to buy its definetly best to go fairly early in the day (or to reserve with a breeder in advance, e.g we picked up Rufus at Cardiff hamster show after reserving him with Vectis beforehand)

The thing with reservations is once reserved I suppose you're obliged to take the hamster, even if you get to the show and discover other furbabies you fall in love with.... and I can't be that 1 track minded... xD I'm terrible for wanting to keep my options open... reservations don't allow me to do that...
Plus, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for... but I'll know when I see... I think..

Besides, Blue Rose is the only hamsters I've seen in a while, so, I'd feel like I was really limiting myself if I reserved one as I've no idea what else is going to the show. Maybe if I'd seen a lot of other litters that may be appearing at the Coventry show...I would have a better idea... (and that's if I even go..) it's a long drive... I'm expecting a big crowd.... and 2 children... + hamsters... in a crowd of people doesn't exactly inspire me with comforting thoughts of making it home with my sanity intact...... my kids are well behaved by all accounts, but I know how easily they wander/get distracted by furbabies.....
I'm hoping for a baby sitter in the form of a loving grandparent
