CORNWALL - breeders or shows..? :(
I have searched high and low and cannot seem to find any syrian hamster breeders in Cornwall or just as sadly I have not heard of any hamster shows in the region either, which is unfortunate as I would not want to take my hamster in the car for hours to go to a show in a different county (she's still a bit young and nervous.)
Can anyone please correct me if Im wrong in thinking that Cornwall's missing out on breeders/shows?

Re: CORNWALL - breeders or shows..? :(
The closest show would be Dawlish in March. There used to be lots of exhibitors and shows in Cornwall and Devon years ago, but unfortunately as these exhibitors became less active the shows in that area were less supported and reduced to just one Dawlish show a year. However, new shows are considered if there is sufficient support in an area, such as the new show in Ferndown this year which was successful thanks to all the efforts of local club members. The NHC handbook which you get when you become a club member explains other ways of meeting hamster enthusiasts locally such as by forming a hamster circle which is another option. As the Southern Hamster Club covers some 2,500 square miles and has a finite number of shows per year, it just isn't possible to have one in every county unfortunately. Most members travel between 1-2 hours for their 'close' shows.
I'm not aware of any breeders locally, but the secretary of the Southern Hamster Club may know of some others. Her details can be found on the SHC website.
