Cutehammies you don't need to be a member to enter the main show. You do to enter certain classes and I would say it is best to join really as you get the magazine and also show your support.
Hamsters at shows are a minimum donation of £8 at Northern Shows and this includes a hagen type carrier so actually cheaper than most pet shops. I'm not sure about the other clubs but assume it will be similar.
We sell our babies for £5 if we are selling them privately but we are choosy and a good home is more important than the money to us.

Ah I see thankyou very much. I would like to buy from a breeder as they are so well looked after!

Is there a limit to how many times you can enter the Pet Show? Like if you enter your hamster in a main class, then can you now for the pet? Or if you keep entering in the pet class then after a while are the judges like ehem would you mind joining the proper classes now?
Although I suppose if I had a ham which was good enough for the main classes, then I would try them in that cos you want them to do well.

Hiya,

at a lot of the shows the pet class is judged by someone who is 'hanging around' looking like they have nothing to do! lol - obviously they are usually someone who is known to the show sec and who are known to have experience with hamsters, but that is all they need really as the pets are judged on condition, tameness and the enrichment in their travel cages etc.

Sometimes show judges are used too if they happen to be at the show with no official job to do.

So as you can see each show usually has a different person to judge pets so they probably wouldn't recognise the same hamster anyway, but there isnt a limit to how many times you can enter your hamster in to the pet class - it is completely up to you
