Question how to take your hamster..

Heya!!
I should be attending the reading show in september, I hope to bring one of my two lovely hammies with me.
unfortunatly both cages are rather big..

How do you take your hamsters?

I dont drive, so I will come by train from oxford, one stop away lol then taxi to the show.
I have looked at some hamster/pet carry cages
I found one that was 40cm by 22cm 30 high.
Mini Purple Carrier Hamster/ Gerbil Guinea Pig 59804 | eBay UK
I dont think fred will like being in anything small after his estate he currently lives in XD
I hope if mishka is nicely tamed to take her along (she is showing she is lovely allready with only a few small handling moments in the cage)
If I got the carry cage itl also be for any vet trips/hammy holidays.
would this be suitable? It wont be easy taking a large bin cage on the tube and taxi lol!!
curious how everyone else can make it with hammys intact!

Thank you!! yaz!

I dont see why it wouldnt be ok, it looks a good size to be able to fit the hammie, food, water, and chews in and if you are entering pet class a lot of people do take them in carriers that size or sometimes smaller and for the main show Fred would only be in it for the traveling anyway. The only worry I would have is the stress from the noise and other things when you take him on a train and then into a taxi. Ive never travel on public transport with my hammies but I know they dont like being in the car very much because of the noise.
Im off to the Cardiff show in September and taking Thistle (WW) with me. Im taking her in my spare ferplast combi 1 insted of a proper carry cage because it means she can have a wheel and other toys with her to occupie her attention on the 40 minute car journey.

Thank you Erin! I will be going earlyish morning, so it shouldnt be busy. She came home from the petshop by bus and wasnt put off at all lol! apparantly it dosnt take long by taxi, so overall probably 35 mins to get there. I will keep away from busy groups of people lol!
I would worry about putting her in anything smaller.
aww! I would take her in the mini duna, but that would still be awkward by train lol! I wish i could drive XD hopefully my OH will get on with his learning soon! that would be soo much easyer!
I will bring a small water bottle, food, maybe a tunnel toy, something to chew on, and her nest. Might pop her flying saucer in my bag, so if she is up and about I can give her afew mins with it
thank you for the advice!

I took Rin on the tube, the national rail and a packed bus in a carrier cage once and she was totally fine with it. I've taken Izu in the car before and he seemed fine with it. XD Fred and Mishka should be fine. Then I can meet them!!!!

thats good to hear! I dont think itl stress her out, she went on a 30 min bus from the shop then a 10 min bus home, was poking her hose out the corners of the tissue at me, she didnt seem stressed, and had fun exploring when she got to her cage.
Fred might come dipending, tho he wont be entered because of his bad habbits :P
I will decide nearer the time, but will get them both travel cages for when I come to london Will i be meeting Izu too?
