Hello,

I have had a couple of patches come up on my left arm then the same on my right arm.

I asked a chemist if she thought they were ringworm & she did. The only place they could be coming from is my three dwarfs

Has anyone else had this?. Aparently its a shampoo that you have to wash them in?. Not going to be easy washing a dwarf hammy

Any advise from anyone who has had this before would be great. All three are booked in to the vets tomorrow morning.

'Hamster Ringworm
Hamster ringworm is a type of fungus that grows on the hamster's skin, hairs and nails. As the fungus grows, hairs are broken which then leads to bald areas of the skin – picture on the right shows a hamster with ringworm that affected the head area. Hamster ringworm may grow when using plastic enclosed cages since the fungus prefers high humidity and these cages do not provide good ventilation.

Always wear gloves when handling a hamster with ringworm. Medication with griseofulvin for at least 4 weeks may be combined with shampooing with povidoneiodine, or antifungals such as eniconazole or natamycin. The hamster’s cage should be cleaned frequently. The cage should be disinfected with a very good disinfectant and should have good ventilation.

Hope that helps i have dwarfs too cant imagine it would be to easy giving tham a bath.

do any of the hamsters have visable ringworm?
As far as i'm aware they do not have to have shampoo, but can be treated with cream or something.
Member 'francescamice' i think had to deal with it a while ago.
Its not too hard to treat

None of the hamsters have any sign of ringworm no bald patches nothing. But I did read some where that they can carry the fungus on there skin & fur without being ill with it themselfs.

They are booked into the vets tomorrow morning at 11am

Glad you're going to the vet - you need to check if your hammies actually have ringworm and find out the best treatment.
For you, it could have come from any number of places. It's very infectious. Have you got something to treat it? If not, you need to see your GP asap.
