Curious question regarding weight :P
My late hamster Treacle was always a slim girl and at times I worried that she was too thin, but now I have Toffee who seems to be putting on podge like its the iceage. She is 10 weeks old and I am curious to know if exactly 100grams is the right weight for her age. She is not greedy and most of the time will refuse or leave a portion of her veg. She is definately eating her musli though!
I seem to remember with Treacle, feeding her loads of nuts and seeds in order to help her put on some weight but Toffee if HUGE (in size too!).
I think I may be a little paranoid!

Re: Curious question regarding weight :P
I would say that its a good weight and if its not then I definitely have a problem as Isabella is 130g and 9 weeks old. I've been told though that its a good weight. I have noticed that Isa is much bigger than Lilbear or my other hamsters. In fact i would say that right now - she's bigger than Lilbear when Lilbear was full grown.
Is Toffee using the wheel?

She adores her wheel and her ball! And she is already bigger than Treacle was fully grown. Isabella must be some hamster to be 130g already!

Re: Curious question regarding weight :P
A breeder hamster will always be bigger. I would expect your Isa to reach 170 - 200g Suga! An adult pet shop ham will be around 140-170g on average.
Hamsters regulate their food correctly so don't think they are getting fat as long as they feel firm and fit and are well fleshed they are likely just right.
The Sunbrus are over 80g at 4 weeks !!!

Re: Curious question regarding weight :P
Toffee is a breeder hamster and so was Treacle which is why I was always concerned about Treacles average weight of 115g. Toffee is extremely active so I reckon she will be slim aswell but hopefully not as light as Treacle was!

Re: Curious question regarding weight :P
Chewbacca is still just over 60g, he is sooo mini. And he is nearly 6 months old! But he eats lots, and excercises plenty, I figure he is just a miniham. I've tried him with nuts and all sorts of proteiny chunky ham foods, he's not right fussed.
I'd love to hold one of these 200g hamsters just to compare (that and some of them are like little guinea pigs.. baww!).
I figure so long as they are active and eating, we don't need to really fret .

Re: Curious question regarding weight :P
little shearer was my smallest ham, the biggest he ever got to was 140g, he was usually round about 125-130g though
tinky on the other hand was like a mini rat! 260g was her biggest, she was mated with shearer and went on to have a litter of 6 (sadly one died at 16 days old) the other hams weights were
(at their biggest)
patch - 240g
pippin - 220g
silver - 200g
vanilla - 215g
samwise - 217g
all good sizes, all we fit and health and loved to run, the babies were bigger than the daddy shearer when they were 6 weeks old
weighed sling tonight and hes 150g, snowflake is 207g
the hams i have now i shall weigh tonight and update

Miniham! Cute Chewy - good things come in small packages, to quote many Grandmas!

Porridge is shown only 100grams at 5 months old when i last weighed him. But my scales are very inaccurate, so i will have to try get my hands on some electronic ones
