Default Bloody eyes discharge

Hi everyone! I’m so worried about my hamster eyes, I already emailed the vet bus as I’m waiting for an answer I’m hoping to find some advices and answers here.
Yesterday morning before going out I checked on my hamster (syrian, female, a year and 7 months old) and she was perfectly fine.
Yesterday I had construction workers in my apartment as we are doing some renovations. Unfortunately I could not do much for the noises and dust (as they had to make holes in brick walls).
Yesterday night when I checked on her she had a dark red/ almost looking like blood discharge coming from both of her eyes. Other than that she seemed fine, probably a little bit tired and stressed out by the noise.
I was wondering if maybe it could be an allergic reaction to the dust, as I don’t think she would hurt BOTH of her eyes (for example poking herself in her eye). They weren’t swollen, she looked like she was crying, her fur was kind of wet around the eyes and as she has grey fur I could se it looked like blood.

I haven’t checked on her this morning yet as I don’t wanna disturb her anymore.

Thank you!

Default Re: Bloody eyes discharge

This sounds more like the dust has irritated her eyes. It's not blood the reddish discharge. It is called porphyrin and is excreted from the back of the eye during irritation or infection along with tears and is a normal reaction.
You could gently bathe the eyes with a cotton ball dipped in cooled boiled water with a teaspoon of salt to a pint of water. Try and isolate her from any further dust exposure.
She should be ok and will stop once the irritants go away
