Re: Sand bath - how often to re-fill?
yh looking at the carton again i realize its still charlie chinchilla and is the same as the bottled version just in different packaging.
Which is supposed to be one of the best to use!

Re: Sand bath - how often to re-fill?
I had aragonite sand recommended to me on a gerbil forum for my gerbil's bath as being safe. I couldn't find it anywhere until I searched online this morning. Now I know that aragonite is sold for reef aquariums! Unfortunately, it only comes in 40lb bags so I'm going to ask the bf to post on his local aquarium site to see if someone would sell me a tiny fraction of their sand For some reason we can only get chinchilla dust in the pet stores here.

You can also use kids play sand Brain girl - can you get hold of that?
You will be surprised how quickly you will get through it so a larger amout might be a good idea if you have somewhere to store it that is!

Re: Sand bath - how often to re-fill?
Yeah, storage is a bit of an issue Lifting is too so I'd have to get help with it. I did find out though that hermit crab sand is basically the same stuff so I could get that. The problem is that it's unbelievably expensive for a little tiny package. I'll probably end up just getting the play sand. It's cheap and readily available!
Thanks!

Re: Sand bath - how often to re-fill?
Well tonight has been the grand sand bath unveiling. She's not quite sure what to make of it and she looks like she's trying to dig to Australia but I think she likes it. The sand feels really cool and soft! Should I leave it in there or take it out and put it back tomorrow night?

its fine to leave it there as she may feel more keen to dig tonight!
She may even take to it as a partial toilet if your lucky

Re: Sand bath - how often to re-fill?
Thanks hun. I'd be more than happy if she would stop pooping in her house and use that instead! She's currently using the side of the sand bath as leverage for killing the water bottle
