Default Syrian Hamster Abnormal Behavior

Good Morning Everyone -

I want to ask a question on behalf of my fuzzy companion Gizelle. She's my daughter’s hamster, but to be honest she's more bonded to me.

She's 18 months (roughly) and a Syrian.

Two days ago, she randomly started jumping during free roam time (I called it an anxiety attack- though I’m not sure what triggered it). I calmed her, and she was fine the rest of the day. Yesterday she was up and out of her house for about an hour or two, but I did notice she was eating and drinking the rest of the day. I checked on her periodically throughout the day.

Flash to today when I found her lying flat in the corner of her cage, making a gawd awful sound. I picked her up and she snapped out of it. This has happened four more times in the last two hours. She lays flat, almost rigid, makes this horrible sound, and then shakes her head and stands up. She's eating and drinking, but with no vets open, I want to keep an eye on her.

I have called the vet and left a message, and I will call again in the morning. I’m frightened this is the beginning of the end.

Has anyone had this happen with their hamster? This is our second round of fuzzy babies, but this situation has never happened. She's in her free roam space today, munching on snacks and playing with her toys. It’s been about forty five minutes since the last “attack.”

Thank you to anyone that may be able to shed some light on what is happening and what I can do to help her.
