Default Eye oozed orange for 30 seconds

My 8 month old syrian Cow was out playing in her box and all of a sudden her left eye just started oozing light orangey/yellow liquid around the edges. It stopped and went away within 30 seconds and left her face a little sticky

Could this just be irritation or something serious? She was just playing in sand and also she tends to get very hyper and bump into things

Im wondering if she just bonked it against something without me noticing? I didnt see anything particularly happen- i was with her the whole time

As someone who works in the veterinary career I would recommend you get the hamster seen too by a vet. Eyes can go downhill very quickly whether or not they look serious. Get some warm water and wipe around the eye gently , take a picture if you can and then call the vets or your exotic vets and see what they say. She may have caught it and caused an ulcer or cut the inside of the eye lid.

It's always best to get it checked out as soon as possible.

Hope everything Is ok

She may have got some sand in her eye that has irritated it. If it continues to look irritated then see a vet. The orange discharge is a response to irritation and is called porphyrin and is sometimes mistaken for blood. It may have washed the sand out and she might be fine now but any further concerns see a vet.

Ok, good news!!

They think she’s ok

There’s no visible damage to her eye and she is acting just like her normal self

Ive been told to just call again if anything else seems wrong

It's possible your Syrian Cow experienced mild irritation or a minor injury. Monitor her closely for any recurrence or changes in behavior. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a vet. Meanwhile, consider keeping pet medication without prescription for emergencies. It's always better to be prepared for unexpected situations.
