Default My Syrian hamster suffered from a fall and is limping

I have gotten a new Syrian hamster a few days ago, his name is latte! Yesterday morning, I was started the process of taming and I was petting him while feeding him veggies. But I was out of my mind, knowing that he is not tamed yet and I should handle him yet, I picked him up, he was fine the first time, so I put him down and give him some more food. And then try picking him up the second time, he was still calm, so I attempted to take him out of the cage and then my intentions is to put him back in immediately, but he suddenly jumped out and fall onto the ground, it was about a 2 feet fall😭. I feel so bad he is not my first hamster and I know I shouldn’t handle him but I did….. I even chased him, scaring him quite a bit as he runs away
, and now he is limping, he isn’t using his right front paw, like she isn’t putting wait on it. I couldn’t tell if it’s swollen or not. But he is still eating and drinking a bit, not as much as the past 2 days, but he is still eating. I am so worried that he broke a bone, I am hoping that it’s a strain and it can heal itself. Here’s a photo so his injured paw. Is it swollen or not? 😭 I really hope that it’s just a strain. It will heal right?

You should really see a vet if your hammy is not putting any weight on the foot. The front legs are important for eating and holding food as well as for emptying the pouches. If it is painful hammy may need pain relief. Even if the vet says it will heal then they will still give pain meds. For now you should remove the wheel and keep your hammy calm and warm. Leave food and a small water bowl in case they cannot stand up easily and make an appointment to have this checked out. If the foot turns black this is medical emergency.
