Post Advice on sudden passing??

So I had a Russian dwarf, his name was Mr. Meaty. Last night at around 9:00pm, what felt like nowhere, he starts running around his tank like crazy from out of his house and then he jumps up and falls over.
I jump up to check on him and he’s just laying in the middle of his cage on his side sprawled out. I waited like maybe 30 seconds to see if he was going to get up on his own and he slowly did but he didn’t seem right. I gently scoop him up in my hand and he’s walking around on me but he’s a little wobbly but he seems okay? So I put him back down and he, still kinda wobbly, right over to the food bowl and starts storing things in his face so I thought maybe he was okay.
Once he was done storing his food he walked back to his house and that’s where I found him dead an hour later with the food still inside. Did I do something wrong??
He was only 8 months old and seemed healthy. He lived in a relatively large tank, I’d measure probably 3feet by 2feet. I always kept him fed and watered and he LOVED his food, he was always eating. Obviously lol. He showed no sign of illness or wet tail and he didn’t have any lumps to indicate cancer or anything like that. He was kind of for his breed but was always a little skinnier than I would have liked despite all the snacking although i didn’t have an adequate scale to weigh him.
He seemed to have a rough start, my sister got him from a woman on the street who had a cardboard box of maybe 30 identical young hamsters running all over each other and she said she was just giving them away and my sister ended up taking four ended up housing them all together for two days before she gave three of them away to other people, including me because obviously, so they weren’t housed together after those two days.
Any ideas as to what could have happened to my sweet Mr. Meaty? He liked to be held and to spit food into my hand and to sit on top of his house and eat like the king he was. May he run the giant hamster wheel in heaven!

I'm sorry to hear this.
It sounds like he has suffered something like either a stroke or a heart issue probable caused by poor breeding and interbreeding.
It sound like it was quick and that he had the best he could during his short life.
You did your best and rescued him from a difficult situation x
