Post itchy hamster

my syrian hamster keeps itching herself and rubbing herself on her toys i’m assuming to itch more. I only got her a few weeks ago and she’s been on aspen for about a week so could it be an allergic reaction to this?
We also have cats and they recently had fleas so it could be a possibility that they got onto her, although i can’t see any on her but if this is the case how would i sort that out?
She’s also walking on her plastic platform with her tummy on the floor and back legs out, she’s only done it today but i think this is normal.
She slept longer than usual today but other than that her behaviour seems normal she’s eating, drinking, burrowing and going on her wheel and she seems happy
if anyone knows what this might be or can let me know what to do please let me know thankyou

Default Re: itchy hamster

This just sounds like normal scent marking to me. The rubbing spreads scent from the hip scent glands on to objects and females will push down their bellies to spead scent especially when they are in season. It would be unusual for her to get cat fleas and as long as the cats are treated and the house also she should be safe. You can get a small animal spot on but I would consult a vet if you see fleas on the hamster
