Exclamation Diarrhea

Just twenty minutes ago,I went to play with my hamsters usual.then as I was putting my hands with treats on the wicker tunnel to attract her,I felt something damp.I instantly washed my hands 32 times then I put on gloves and look at the poop again. It was not watery but soft enough to squish it and it smells. The whole cage doesn't smell bad tho. I went to pick her up and her bottom was clean. Her other poops are not squishy but softer than usual.she is a Syrian and we don't actually knows how old is she but it was 3 months before when I got her and the pet shop said she's about 3-5 months old. Yesterday,I DID fedher some strawberry and it was her first time trying it but its just a little piece. I know bacteria diarrhea is fatal but its almost 11pm in the UK so there's nothing I can do except for hoping she'll be fine.

Thanks for any help! I appreciate it!

Wet tail isn’t as common in hamsters over 3 months, but is possible.

definitely make sure her bottom stays clean and make sure she’s still drinking with any type of diarrhea

I’ve had hamsters get softer poop from certain treats they ate a little too much of or never had before

If she’s still having the issue in the morning or it gets worse, it wouldn’t hurt to call a vet and ask

Hope she feels better

Hamster do produce two different types of poos the harder pellets and caecotrops (softer poos which they re eat). I had occasions when I’m cleaning my Syrians house I put my hand in some softer poos which smell stronger. But when giving a new treat especially which are more watery this can affect their poos.

However there is a possibility that this may be caused by a bacterial or viral infection. Due to the time I would make sure she eating and drinking. Ensure her bottom is clean as well as she not lethargic and seem in discomfort. And then check her first thing in the morning and if she still experiencing soft poos/diarrhoea try and get her seen by a vet.

Thanks for the replies!! I was pretty busy studying so didn’t reply to message. It turns out that it was just soft poops that somehow got squashed and I was just over worrying
