Hi found a small cut on my hamster’s head the other week. Read some articles online and decided to let it heal on its own and observe the wound. It got better a few days ago but yesterday found another wound near the same area and even more hair loss. He did not fall or have any other hamsters in the cage with him. Havent observed him rubbing against his cage at all either. Cant find anything online similar to this and wanted to know what it may be. Should I be worried?
Small cuts and grazes often heal perfectly fine with out the need to see a vet. The fact that it come back worse and has the bald patch I unsure what the cause could be - they’re a chance it could be mites or even a fungal issue but can’t say for certain. It could be worth taking to a vet who experience with hamsters or small rodents as they may be able to have a closer look and give him so meds to help clear it up.
Thank you so much for getting back to me SKB Hamster. I think I’ve found the problem. I rearranged a few things in his cage to reduce him bumping into anything based on his habit of getting down from his second level in front of his wheel. The wound healed and his bald patch is gone now
