New hamster with dental issues
Hello, I recently got a Syrian hamster after not having any hamsters for around 5 years. He/she (not sure what the gender is) may be having some dental issues but I'm not really sure and from the looks of it I have no exotic animal vets nearby.
The other night they seemed to have gotten his tooth stuck in a spray and managed to free itself from it and after this incident, I noticed its teeth looked a little odd. When I first got them which was around a month ago they had normal, healthy yellow but now whenever I get a glimpse of their teeth I can only see one bottom tooth which is completely white.
Today I took them out for a bathtub bonding session for the first time ever (I've only held him in his cage so far) and after being there for 5 minutes he got their tooth stuck on the blanket and I had to help free them while they were clearly extremely stressed by me and the situation.
I've only had them for around a month and compared to all my other hamsters I've had in the past, they are extremely scared of being held and very skittish so I can't get a good look at them for a health check (hence why I am unsure of the gender as its long hair covers that area).
Anyways, I'm not sure what to do to help them, any tips?

Re: New hamster with dental issues
From my knowledge, a completely white tooth means there is indeed an underlying dental issue going on. Your ham being scared and emotion could be because they're in a new home, but it could also be from discomfort or pain. If they only have one bottom tooth visible then it's possible that it could have broken off when it got stuck on the spray-- I believe this means they will need to go to the vet.
You could call around the vets that are in your area and ask if they have any doctors with experience working on rodents/hamsters, just in case they didn't list it on their website or anything (if you haven't already done so of course!)
fingers crossed it's nothing major, I know how stressful this kind of thing can be
Make sure to keep an eye on them and that they're eating their food and such!
