It is. I tried with one pill and maybe it's good I didn't manage to give him, since I definitely don't want to overdose Bogie.
We're at home now and he has been a little bit more active. I'll see the vet in two days anyways.
I hope it'll be good news, but at least I got to hold my hamster in my hand for about 3 hours today. He didn't have any energy to move in my hand either.

You are doing a wonderful job of caring for Bogie. It is so difficult to give a tiny hamster any medication.

You know, the vet said that if Bogie was a Syrian hamster she'd be 100% certain that he'd survive the operation as well, if he needed one, but Bogie is too little and there's a chance he won't make it. It's difficult to find any vet that would accept dwarf hamsters and rodents in general.

That is really sad. Do you have any paperwork from the vet? I wondered if you put what the lump was if other members would know more about it.

If Bogie is on antibiotics, my guess would be an abcess.

No matter what species or age, hamster or human, surgery ALWAYS carries risks.

The vet couldn't possibly tell you otherwise. They have to point out the risks involved and you would have to sign a consent form. It's standard prodecure.

If you ask the vets they should be able to send you Bogie's notes which will tell you the vet's observations and diagnosis. I know it's often hard to remember exactly what was discussed after the fact.

Google Translate didn't get what it is or she didn't write it, but he has something in his stomach and it's something with the size of the peanut.
He hasn't even eaten anything besides salads and cucumbers in days, but I'm happy that he eats something. I tried boiling the food, so it'd be soft but he hasn't touched it at all.
I'll have to give him his medicine soon. Hopefully I'll succeed. I'm hoping so bad he'll be alright, but you know…I've been still crying for hours and trying to stay strong as well.

I can definitely see that the signs have gotten worse. He doesn't move or doesn't really pay any attention to anything. I feel so guilty for not going immediately, because a few days ago when I started this thread he was in a better shape, but um…Then again Bogie is my first hamster and my initial guess was that he's cold. I'm also very grateful to the vet accepting him immediately yesterday and I'm happy she wasn't like: "Well, you have time booked for Thursday, so why don't you wait?" Really, this vet is the best I've been to, so at least that makes me happy.

The worst thing is he also has a broken tooth. I have no idea how this could've happened. He doesn't climb on anything, he has chew toys, he doesn't climb bars. I feel bad about it. I was watching him drinking water yesterday and as soon as he touched water he jumped and squeaked. It took him awhile to drink water.

Baby food can be useful for hamsters who are struggling to eat. I do not know if you could buy some. You just have to make sure it does not have onion, leek, garlic.

You were not to know Bogie needed a vet visit. If it was coldness then he would just need to be warmed up.

I am so sorry Bogie is unwell but whatever happens, you have done your best for him.

I don't really understand why you keep blaming yourself.

I think that you need to learn to accept that hamsters can get ill just like humans can.

Just because you are a first time hamster companion doesn't mean that you are a bad one.

Maybe you are very young or have been very lucky and have never experienced illness in your life. Maybe your family and friends have never been ill so Bogie's illness is something completely new to you which would explain why you struggle to understand that illness can happen at anytime.

Would you say its my fault that my 10 months old dwarf hamster died of cancer? Some things are out of our control no matter how hard we try to make things right.

No matter how well we look after our hamsters, we cannot prevent illnesses. So please stop blaming yourself. It is not your fault that Bogie is ill.

Instead of spending hours crying, try to make the best of the time you have together. You can cry later. Bogie is alive, he may not be able to play with you but he can feel your love.

The situation has gotten worse. He doesn't eat cucumber or salad and he had no strength to drink water. He managed to eat cucumber a little bit and was licking it
I don't think he's gonna make it. We managed to eat a little bit and I was petting him, but I'm losing hope here.

I've tried a baby food as well. He does not eat it and the situation has gotten a lot worse since yesterday.

I left him alone now. I'm sure he wants to sleep.
