Hi all, yes, I brought them from Wilko. Think the nutrition value looks ok.

Re: Abnormal toileting habit?
I observed Clive's poops for a couple of weeks now and cut out the leafy greens which got him back to normal. I also checked his cage while he was out and didn't find any abnormal poops.
So he's back to running around allover the place and a happy hamster again. He hated the restriction of "only" being allowed in the hall and bathroom. Kept digging the carpet at the barrier, climbed up me when i sat on the floor to keep an eye on a hamster each side of the devider, trying to jump over it from my shoulder. At one point he tried to climb up to the top of my head!
I let him race around last night in the whole space until he had tired himself out. He came to me when i called him to get lifted back into his cage.
Thank you all for your much appreciated help and advice!

I was able to find the ingredients on The Hay Experts' website, I didn't see the ingredients anywhere else before. Unfortunately they're not a safe product - they contain clay as an ingredient, something you definitely don't want a hamster to be consuming at all since it can cause serious digestive issues especially long term including blockages.

Oh my, yes I can see that now, thanks AmityvilleHams. I’ve attached a photo, I must’ve been so busy looking at all the things I thought were good and completely bypassed this :/ It even says at the end also contains clay, which is clearly a bit odd even if they do reference it to B12, that maybe so for larger animals but hamsters are tiny and we don’t want any blockages. Sorry if anyone else has considered using these.

Re: Abnormal toileting habit?
I was in the petshed yesterday and looked at this product but decided not to buy it after reading Amitity's post.
If i remember right, hamsters are listed at the front as suitable animals. But why add clay. I just don't get the manufacturers of pet foods.
Btw, i wouldn't have known about clay.

Thanks Ria, I won’t be giving them anymore. Just as well Amity was reading the post, this is the great thing about having a hamster community and sharing information.
The front says small animals and the side mentions hamsters
Yes, know what you mean about manufacturers but guess we could say that even for us humans and I’m a migrainer who reads all labels. I’ll be more observant for my little friend too in future
