Default Black Spot suddenly appeared

Hi

My daughters 20 month old Syrian hamster Ralph has had a crusty eye for the past 3 months off and on and I read that its quite common for older hamsters. Hes gone quite grey since that photo was taken and his coat isn't as thick as it was (but thats been ongoing for a while)

But today when he came out to say hello I noticed a flat dark patch (looks like its under the skin) on his skull between his eyes. Its just happened today as I took a photo of him yesterday to send the daughter (As she's on holiday) and it wasnt present then.

He has taken up the habit of putting all his food in his plastic tubes, (he used to pee in them until we gave him a sand bath now he pees in that) and I dont know if he bruised himself - he headbutts it and its peanuts seeds etc to get through the tubes as hes a little sausage?

He is absolutely normal in himself, he is charging about, eating normally, drinking normally going to the toilet normally - he seems in good sorts, usual come up to say hello if I open the front of the cage etc. It sounds daft but I know when hes in a mood, or not happy, and he seems bright and alert as usual. Does anyone have any ideas please thank you so much
