Inflamed Scent Gland?
Hi, I have noticed my hamster's scent gland becoming more swollen and inflamed. Initially i thought he was just grooming himself but lately i think he started biting at it. I'm not entirely sure if he is in pain for there is not much of a change of behavior nor does he squeal when I try to pick him up, even when i try to swab it with saline. There is significant change in his gland (size and colour) compared to 1 month ago.
I see lots of posts on crusty or clogged glands, and I'm not even sure how a normal scent gland is supposed to look like, but I don't think his looks normal?
Do I need to be worried? Please help!

Re: Inflamed Scent Gland?
Hi, I think the first pic it looks normal, but 2nd looks very red/inflamed/blood??? on the 2nd one. However, not always easy to see correctly on photos and not in person.
I would suggest going to a vet to get it checked out especially if you are worried.
