In that case I wouldn't try and do it yourself.

It sounds like he really does need vet treatment as his teeth either sound loose or misaligned. He is three years old and that is very old! I am wondering if his teeth are actually loose and some may fall out. The top teeth are quite small. I've had them fall out before in an older syrian. I maybe wouldn't worry about the top teeth so much as they are quite short. That one might fall out.

The long bottom teeth are more of an issue. If a bottom tooth gets too long it could puncture his palate at the top and cause severe pain and even brain injury. It's when that happens their mouths can't open. But also sometimes if the bottom teeth get too long they can't close their mouths either.

Yes if you cut them wrong you could cut down too far and leave him with severe pain if it cuts the nerve.

If the bottom tooth sometimes sticks out the side or sometimes pokes back it sounds like that one might be loose as well. What is the other bottom tooth like?

Definitely give him soft food so he's getting the nutrients (and the pleasure of eating easily). Plus the hard hamster mix in his bowl as usual. I'm just wondering, if you give him a tasty hard chew stick (ie one with food on) if the loose teeth might just fall out?

I think he might need some pain relief as well at that age and if his teeth are moving around (it could cause pain) and that is another reason to see a vet - so they can prescribe some metacam.

I would try one of the vets in your area again, and say can you do tooth extraction? And prescribe metacam. I don't think they could extract a tooth without an anaesthetic though and that is risky at his age.

Yes do upload a photo!

Maybe something like these? These are mini dog biscuits and ingredients sound safe and as they include peanut butter he will probably want to chew it! A lot on Amazon seem to be out of stock but maybe you can find them or something similar in your local pet store. Check the ingredients though. No spices etc.

Not sure if this work, but worth the try. After looking closely, it looks his other bottom tooth may have fallen out. I have no clue when that happened

I will look at the biscuits, but im worried that it will hurt him more. I dont think they’re at a chewable length

Would it be ok to feed my hamster unsugared dried apples? In moderation, of course. I’ve been researching for a while trying to find more foods that would be soft but not with a lot of water. I heard that dried fruits have a lot of sugar. Is it ok to feed him dried apples? I am planning to call local vets in the area tomorrow for his teeth.

Hamsters like baby food. You have to make sure it does not have any onion, garlic, leaks or added sugar. Maybe that will be easier for your hamster to eat.

Do you have any recommendations for baby food brands that are safe?

I tried to look this up but could not find any brands. I think you just need to check the ingredients of each one. I know Ella's kitchen sell some things people feed hamsters. I am not sure if they are only in the UK. Have you had any luck with finding a vet?

In the US, a lot of Beech Nut baby foods are a very good option in terms of a brand that's available basically anywhere in grocery stores and such. They have some really good simple ingredient options, sometimes even single ingredient, without a lot of the questionable ingredients you'll sometimes see in other products. Definitely still double check ingredients regardless of brand though to be safe.
