Question Hamster's

i have 4 hamsters in the same cage. i had a relative recently give me his hamsters but there all in the same cage he gave it to me because he was moving and the problem is i cant afford more cages. so they all live together. there are 3 that dont attack eachother and are typically friendly with each other. but there is one extremely aggresive hamster who takes there food attacks them and worst thing is he wont let them anywhere near his food storage. unfortunately i dont have enough money to get separate cages what should i do for now?

Hello

What an awful situation you have found yourself in. You cannot keep them together. What country are you in?

Do you have any plastic storage bins you could make into a "bin cage"? You can give them a cardbox box wíth hole cut out to be a hide. a shallow dish with water and scatter their food

what kinds of hamsters are they?

Hello Souppypoopy and welcome to the forum. I was wondering if you have a hamster rescue near you who could take some of the hamsters for you?

Hi and welcome to HC!

Could you source cheap second hand cages or temporarily house the aggressive hamster in a cardboard box placed inside the bath tub?

Do you know how old the hamsters are and what sex they are? Male or female or mixed? Hopefully not.

As everyone has already said, you definitely need to separate them. As a temporary measure go up to local hardware store or home store and just get cheap plastic boxes.

Even if you use just some tissue paper bedding for now and if you can pick up some secondhand wheels get them.

I think the most important thing to prioritise is separate them ASAP then look for a rescue and/or advertise them yourself. In a plastic box with no enrichment is far from a permanent solution, maximum for a couple of days.
