Re: The Last Months With An Elderly Hamster
It really is a matter of observation and noting any signs of decline in case the hamster needs a daily dose of painrelief which several of my hamsters benefited from in the last months of their lives.
When their mobility or eyesight started to fail, i adjusted their habitat to a bungalow by removing fall risks and making sure that everything was easily accessible.
One of my Syrians is slowing down and showing signs of decreased kidney function but all i can do is to make sure that he has fresh water and clean his toilet more often.
You will know when life becomes a burden or your hamster will give you a sign should there come a time when it is kinder to help them on their way.
Enjoy whatever time you and Bertha have left together. Time becomes so precious when they get old.
