I'm sorry to join this thread only now, but it seems you are doing everything that you can for her!
Hams are good fighters and hide pain very well. As long as you keep her comfortable you have done nothing wrong.

Good luck with the antibiotics, i hope she feels better soon

Oh and as you can see from my status ' #1 hamster mom' it is not strange to view yourselves that way XD

Thank you for the compliments, I still find her adorable despite her lack of fur, she will always be cute to me!

We have bought her some baby food (organic, sweet potatoe and carrot), and also some rice pudding baby puree. She ate the carrot stuff last night, so I think she likes it!

Glad she is trotting on and still scoffing . She sounds lovely, and she is so cute.

I've never been through this stuff before, so reading this thread has made me rather tearful (I'm so soft sometimes). Chewy and I (his mummy, hah! We all do it!) send our best wishes.

Update: So Ming is still with us, thankfully! However, this morning she gave us a fright - we heard strange noises from her cage, first weird squeaking sounds, so we rushed out of bed over to her cage. When we got closer it sounded like ragged breathing, and when her cage top and house lid was taken off, she was still asleep, but it seemed as if her breathing was very laboured.

You could hear her breathing from the other side of the room, I have never been so worried, I thought she was leaving us . Luckily she woke up, a bit confused and sleepy, bless her. After having a bit of some baby food we game her she hobbled out of her bed. This is when I noticed that her belly looked more swollen that normal, and she was having trouble getting out of her door.

What I suspect is that her tumour may have gotten bigger. When I rang the vet, he said he couldn't be sure over the phone, and since it is a bank holiday we couldnt bring her in on such short notice, but said if she got worse definately bring her in.

So now we're keeping an eye on her, and I havn't heard any strange breathing noises since, so I think she's ok. I'm wondering if the tumour was pressing on her lungs or something, making her breathe that way in her sleep? Once she was up though she seemed ok.

I hate to go to work tomorrow, I hope she'll be ok.

Just thought I'd update you all.

Aww bless her little heart, I hope that the vet can do something to help her breathing, and make her more comfortable. Best wishes to you and Ming x

We've just come back from the vet, and unfortunately her tumour had grown larger and developed into two tumours, and she was starting to suffer. I had to let her go, and so he put her to sleep . At least she won't be in discomfort anymore.
