Yes, I couldn't see it with my naked eye anyway. I just noticed it when I started taking pictures of him and it was it startled me and I rushed to look for help and then created this thread and Google said that it might be mites, so I started cleaning his cage and when I came back to check on him his coat was clean and those white things were gone. He probably cleaned himself while I was gone.

Thank you. We've been really trying our best. He also has his own bath and a bathroom (which he actually uses. I couldn't find anything anywhere else while I was cleaning. So he certainly does use the bathroom. I'm so proud of him. He also has many toys, but I took away the climbing toys that would allow him to climb and reach the bars, because there's so much space between bars he can squeeze himself out of the cage (good thing that I noticed it). He might look big and 'fat' but when he wants he can squeeze himself through everything and run very fast, so whenever I take him outside I always keep an eye on him and do nothing else. He does react to his name, but not always. The last time I was at the vet they said they've never seen such a friendly hamster (there's a possibility they say that to everyone
), but he hasn't displayed any strange behavioural signs anymore (such as freezing). He just screamed a few days ago and I tried to find such 'screaming' on Google, but with no luck. He probably had a nightmare though.

When i fluff up the white Kaytee clean and cozy i can see white particles in the air before they settle so it could be that. They have given me a fright before when landing on the water bowl so i got the magnifying glass out to ensure they weren't alive.

I am certain they weren't alive. It must've been the paper bedding, but I got frightened as well, since when I got him I had problems with bugs and even cleaning didn't help. The only thing that helped me was going to the vet and he got a shot and he gave me some medicine and some spray to clean all the cage with (I had to throw away all of his stuff that was made out of wood) and the vet told me to clean everything very carefully with the spray and then wait for 8 hours and then I had to wash everything very carefully and with hot water. The vet also warned me that if I don't wash carefully the hamster will die, because the spray is very strong. So I was definitely frightened and it took me around 4 hours to wash everything with vinegar and soap and rinse many times. He told me that the bugs are probably from the store and I think the same, because the last time I visited the pet store where I got him there was another dwarf hamster and he had the same toy and water bowl. (Unfortunately hamsters there don't have wheels. I'm not kidding), but rats and mice do have some small wheels, so they don't take care of animals in the pet stores. I'm certain that my hamster has currently better life than what he used to have, but I still think I have a lot of room to improve and I get worried too easily, I guess. So I'm very grateful for your support.
The last time I was at the vet he was 47g. Two vets have already said that he looks big
and I used to think that as well. He looks skinny when he's standing up on his feet, so it's possible just a fur. I do try to keep his diet balanced, however there are some things he doesn't eat, such as apples, cheese, but he does eat salad and cucumbers. I think the last time I went to the vet with him was because he was making a lot of noise and chirping a lot and to that they just said that some are more vocal than the others. A few days ago I woke up to him screaming as well, but I just woke him up and petted him and gave him some treats and he has been quiet ever since. I do hope he's fine. I'm trying to give him the best life I can and he really doesn't have any common stress symptoms such as climbing the bars, monkey barring or chewing the bars and he hasn't bitten me nor hissed at me or at anyone else.

Hello! I am using Chipsi pet bedding. I do not have magnifying class, but when I zoomed in on camera I didn't see any movement. They're gone by now so it must've been the bedding, I think. I panicked too easily.
