Unhappy Syrian hamster swollen finger

Hello, i'm new to this site so i don't really know how this works yet, but i need help and suggestions for my hamster. My syrian hamster (Bubble) has one swollen finger. It looks red but other than the swelling and redness she appears to be fine, walking without limping, she's still eating and hoarding food. I just came back from my trip and I left her with a caretaker, so I'm not really sure when she got injured, but I assume her nail or finger got stuck on something while she plays (her nail is still there though).

Can the swollen finger heal on its own or what remedies can I give to help the healing? Finding a vet especially for hamster is quite hard in my country, I have paid for an online local vet and send the finger pic to them but they prescribe human's muscle balm which I definitely would never use on my hamster because it's hot and it can poison my hamster. instead

Thankyou for any of your help!!

Default Re: Syrian hamster swollen finger

Hello and welcome to HC!

I think that a liquid painkiller/anti-inflammatory medication like metacam/loxicom is what vets would prescribe here and i would try and find a vet.

The online vet doesn't seem to know the difference between a human and a hamster and i hope that you didn't have to pay for such useless and downright dangerous advice.

Sorry not to come up with another suggestion, maybe someone else will.
