Default Help! whats on my hammies belly?

So a few days ago i noticed a small bump on my hamster, Pon's, belly. I took him to the vet the next day and they said it was a hernia and that Pon would need to have a surgery. However the vet also said i could wait around 10 days and monitor the bump if it changes.

A day later when i went to check on my little Pon, i saw that the bump was gone and instead a little hole was in its place. I'm just unsure what to do.. it seemed to have popped.. or was it just a scent gland that was congested? should i wait for it to heal over? or should i go to the vet again?

I dont know why but when i went to that vet i didnt really trust them. The vet didnt really give me that much info and only answered in short questions whenever i asked something and i was so anxious i didnt really know what to ask. I just felt a little bit scammed as I paid for that check up but it barely gave me an indication as to what my options were and then he as urging me to do that surgery which would cost like 150 euros..

I guess im just worried to be paying an expensive surgery and what if the surgery just goes wrong? And like does Pon even need surgery now that theres no bump?

This is what his belly looks like now.. if anyone has any advice or knows what is going on please help a friend out):

I would find an exotics vet and get her checked out. Never heard of a hamster with a hernia which doesn't mean that its not possible but this could be something requiring antibiotics or a painkiller/anti inflammatory rather than surgery. I'm no vet and don't know what it is but that's what i would do.
Lovely hamster.

It looks like a ruptured abscess or cyst to me. Syrians don't have scent glands on the tummy like dwarf hamsters so it's not that. I think I'd get another opinion as it does look very open there and may need antibiotics. Abscesses do tend to fill up again. You usually need to keep bathing them and keeping them open and draining till all the pus had drained out and they heal from inside to the outside. He looks bright though so hopefully it will be fine.
