Help! Sick hamster.
OK so my 4 month old male Syrian hamster got out of his cage and was out of his cage all day for about 12 hours. When I found him he was weary but not very scared it's not very scared I put him back in his cage but noticed that he had a dirty butt. He was also walking a little funny. He is now eating and drinking and acting like himself and he seems to be cleaning up his butt. He is still pooping regular pellets as well. I am still going to take him to the vet in the morning but please advise on what you think could be wrong.

Re: Help! Sick hamster.
It's impossible to speculate on what could be wrong with your hamster, only a vet can tell you that.
You said that you're taking him this morning. What did the vet say? I hope he's going to be ok.
Two of my hamsters escaped and i was luccky that they didn't come to any harm. Needless to say how important it is to secure their habitat to make them escape proof.

Re: Help! Sick hamster.
Anything could have happened while he was out of the cage, he could have fallen awkwardly or something. Do let us know how it goes at the vet and hope the little guy is ok.
What cage have you got? Important to ensure he can't escape again. Some of these cages the hamster can actually open the door!
