Post help, My russian campbell dwarf's skin condition

Hi, Zuki, my russian campbell dwarf has a skin condition. I don't know what it is, and how to cure it. It looks like dandruff, he's missing hair and it is scaly. also he has little cuts, I think from scratching. He seems itchy sometimes. He has fur missing on his side and on his back he has that dandruff scaly thing, and has cuts at the base of his tail. He still eats and drinks and walks around. He is a year and a half old.

Here's some photos of him that I took:

Zuki doesn't look at all well. Can you get him to a vet? It might be Cushing's disease, but whatever it is he would benefit from a proper diagnosis and whatever care can be given to ease his condition.

Hope you can get him comfortable.

Hello,

He may have a mite infection which a spot on treatment of ivermectin would help However, he looks very uncomfortable and inflammed so needs a proper vet diagnosis and they may do an injectable ivermectin.

Little guy needs to get to a vet, this will not clear up on its own

Update:

So his vet appointment was today. The vet said that he most likely has mites. (She also said he might have ringworm, but that ringworm is contagious so I don't think it's that.) They gave him an ivermectin shot and an antibiotic shot, also some probiotic to give him a little dab daily. And the vet told me to clean his cage every two days. And that they will check in after 10 days to see if he gets better. So right now, Zuki is in a clean cage and is sleeping soundly, I feel like he looks a lot better. He was cranky though when on the way home, he squeaked when I touched him- but he's ok now.

It's concerning that the vet said he "most likely" has mites. Mites are something your vet should've done a skin scrape for to properly confirm as treatment for mites is something that should only ever be used with a confirmed outbreak of mites for a variety of reasons - never as a just in case thing or without a proper skin scrape to prove an outbreak is even there!

Yes, the vet told me she doesn't know exactly what he has. She didn't want to do a skin scrape test because she said it would harm Zuki. She told me she shined a UV light to check for ringworm and she didn't see anything, then said it was 40% chance it didn't show up. she offered a ringworm test, but I didn't do it.

Today I do notice that the dandruff on his back is a little less than before, but he still keeps scratching that same spot behind his left ear and there is still those cuts on there, like three cuts that are still red and don't go away (he keeps scratching)

I don't know what to do, this one vet visit cost me total $200, and he still keeps scratching.

I'm not sure where your vet got the idea that a skin scrape would cause harm as that is not true. They're a procedure done quite often and many hamsters have gotten them done with no harm done!

It's awful that you ended up spending so much on this vet, hopefully you're able to find a better one that can figure this all out.
