Cherry sized lesion on hammie
We found a lesion approximately the size of a cherry on our older hamster. It feels like a disk about the size of a nickel inside it. The hair on the area seems to be thinning and it looks like a small cut in the center.
We are not aware of any trauma

Re: Cherry sized lesion on hammie
Hello and welcome to HC!
My advice would be to get the hamster checked out by a vet.

Re: Cherry sized lesion on hammie
It could well be a tumour - how old is your hamster? I just had a lump removed from our Syrian hamster at the age of 21 months and he recovered really well. The lump was malignant but had been removed cleanly so the view was it hadn’t spread. You definitely need a vet opinion though - and it needs to be an exotic vet. They know more about hamsters and tend to be better surgeons as well - in my experience they don’t cost any different to any other vet. It’s possible it’s an abscess, which could be drained. Whereabouts is the lump? Scent gland tumours are common and that is what our hammy had.
