Which variety of sand?
My bag of sand has nearly run out. I have been using Maltby's Stores Chinchilla Dust, which my previous hammies always seem to have liked, but it doesn't seem to be available any more. Reading reviews on Amazon, it seems manufacturers sometimes change the composition of their sand and it becomes more dusty. There is such an alarming variety on the market these days. Please can anyone recommend a good one to use?
Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Which variety of sand?
I recently got some Pettex Reptile desert sand after the Harry Hamster sand covered everything in dust. The Pettex is very fine without being dusty.

I have always used the Tiny Friends Farm sand and have never had any issues.

Re: Which variety of sand?
I always use children's play sand because it's available in larger quantities which is quite important if you've got several hamsters and it's pretty cheap. It does need drying out but that's not too much of an issue for me as I tend to dry a fair bit at once so there's always some ready for use.

Another member of the forum, Serendipity, put me onto JR Farm sand at zooplus.

Re: Which variety of sand?
Many thanks for the suggestions. I now have Tiny Friends sand winging its way towards me. The reviews seemed to be good, but I guess the proof of the pudding is in the eating....or the bathing. I will have to ask the hammies, when they arrive.
