Exclamation Is my hamster ok? Or just lazy?

Hi again guys.

I was wondering if my hamster is ok. With his old wheel he would get off of it and plop down in front of it like he's laying down.

Since the new wheel I haven't seen him do it (but it's obviously just been one day since I've had this wheel). I have him placed in a funny position next to my bed so that I can see him, I've been doing this so that I can how he's progressing with his wheel and if it's been ok for a few days I'm going to shift him so he's up the other end of my room.

But as I just looked over I found him laying actually ON the wheel itself with his head over the groove of where the wood comes up slightly.

Is he just lazy or is he ok? Hoping he's just lazy if I'm honest! If I leave him be he ends up getting back up after a little and starts running again. With the old wheel, as stated he'd plop down in front of it then all of a sudden do like a random jump on to the wheel and just run super fast again.

He's just checking it all out Because it's different. He will probably inspect every single bit of that wheel Pickle took ages to get used to running in a wheel - he just used to sit in it with it swinging a bit - I think he liked that. Within a few days he'll probably be thundering in it. Sometimes if they're not sure what to do with it you can put a treat in the wheel each night so they go there to get the treat and start running in it.

He'll probably do it more at night when you're asleep.

He knows what to do, I've watched him running on it for 8 minutes before, stopping each time to look up and check out whats going on for about 10 seconds and continues to run. But during each spurt he like stops and just lays down right on his wheel like he's collapsed or something. Is that normal and he's a lazy hamster (or is possibly tired and regaining some energy for like 5-10 minutes) or is it a sign of an issue?

Sounds to me he's just having a breather.
Mocha will take running breaks that seems forever, just bopping around in his wheel. The laying down could just be Remy's style or getting used to the newness. (:

Novelty - he lies down in it - because he can! Because it's bigger. Sounds like he loves it. His new favourite place. Some hamsters actually move their nest into their wheel lol (that's usually dwarf hamsters though).
