Re: Sad news for Poppy :(
Took a video of her last night, which I thought I'd share with you guys so you can see how she is. She's still quite lively (as last night's antics proved!), just not as much as before. I don't want to have her p.t.s. next week, so if she's still not better then I will prob be opting for surgery, and keeping my fingers crossed. Hoping it won't cost much as paid £25 last time for her and need to get my car fixed soon too :S
Anyway, here is is. All the squeaking, spluttering and wheezing you can hear is her. Also towards the end of the vid you get a better view of how swollen her face is. Also, I know the tank is a bit on the small side, but she chewed a huge hole in my guinea-pig rody, and started to do the same in the gabber - this was all I had left!

Re: Sad news for Poppy :(
the swelling/lump goes from the end of her nose, right up to her eye, so it does make it look quite small. Her nostrils are now off centre a little too because of it. Can't be too comfy, but I guess that's what the metacam's for :/

Re: Sad news for Poppy :(
I've booked her in for an appointment on Thursday at 10am. D-Day.
I'm seeing Paul, which I'm quite happy about as he's really good, and really explains things to you, but if he agrees with the last guy I saw then basically I have to make my choice.
She hasn't improved. If anything, got a little bit worse - I think the lump is growing. She must be in a lot of pain and has taken to sleeping on top of her bedding, rather than nestled deep down and buried - I'm guessing this is either because she doesn't have the energy to make up her bed evrytime she gets in, or because she finds it easier to breathe out in the open. She's trying to sleep now, and I can see her really struggling for breath, but i know she's not ready to give up yet, so neither am I. I don't want to have her PTS on thursday. It's not time.
However, she can't go on like this. It's not fair on her to struggle for every breath. She's too young to live a life of constant pain relief and antibiotics. This means there's only one option left - surgery. But of course it's a huge risk and the odds are greatly stacked against her. Maybe these will be our last days together -but I don't want to think like that, because maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to fix her, and she'll wake up from the anaesthetic good as new.
And of course, maybe there won't be that option. Maybe Paul will decide it's progressed too far and I'll be forced to make that decision, far too early for my liking.
Here's hoping...

Re: Sad news for Poppy :(
I'm sorry, I hope that the vet can suggest something that can be done. If the lump is growing could it be a tumor? I don't want to add to your stress and upset, but I just wondered. I will have you in my thoughts on Thursday at 10am. I'm hoping that all goes as well as it can for you and Poppy.
